MAANYUNG
Maanyung is an artist with a clear mission in mind: To spread values of respect and care for ourselves, our communities, and Mother Earth. With strong ties to Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl nations, Maanyung sings in his ancestors' language; his own method of preserving tradition in today's fast-paced world.
While still in the early stages of his music journey, Maanyung has already graced stages from Dark MoFo to Melbourne Fashion Festival, also playing alongside Barkaa and Yothu Yindi, where his emotive vocals have captivated audiences. Maanyung uses traditional instruments like boomerangs in his music, but his sounds also incorporate acoustic guitar and piano, sweeping synths and electronic influences; creating a unique fusion that pulls from both old and new.
